I tried a Hanson T5 (very briefly) when I went up to the Hanson shop to buy a saxophone. I only played it for around 5 minutes, but it felt really nice - good clear tone, very even across all the registers, and easy to play. I didn't have my other clarinets with me (leblanc opus, old R13, B&H imperial 926) to do a side by side comparison though. If I continue getting more orchestral gigs, I'll be very tempted to trade in my instruments and get a matched set of T5/T6s.
Pros - I believe Hanson will send you a few instruments on approval to try at home, you can pick your favourite and send the others back ( I did this with my alto sax. ), or send them all back if you don't like any of them. They offer a range of bore configurations (english, french, jazz and symphony) and materials (grenadilla, ebonite, rosewood etc). They are very good value as there are no retailer/distributors to push the price up - your'e buying straight from the factory.
Cons - they aren't well known, so don't expect Buffet/Backun style resale values.
