And yet late in the Galper beginner book he has included several exercises using the Eb 1 and 1 in conjunction with Bb. On my clarinet, to my beginner ear, the tuning doesn't differ significantly from other Eb fingerings.

Thanks for the reminder, though, to pull out my tuner and compare the three choices. My ear could be letting me down.
