Hi everyone,
I’m sorry if this a repeat of another post but I’m looking for some helping. I’m hoping to buy a used clarinet and I just want to confirm that the advertised clarinet is a Buffet R13 as promised. I have yet to see it in person but the serial number is apparently 501886. Does anyone know of a way to identify the model by the serial number or does anyone know if this is the serial number of a R13. I have attached photos of the instrument.
Thanks a lot,
Bryn

Is the wood cut away under the right hand pinky cluster?

Certainly looks like a silver plated R13, circa 1970s. It also appears to be in really good shape. It was either not used too much or was recently re-plated. Either way, looks like a good horn. You need to try it though to see if it's right for you (pitch tendencies, response, things like that).

I'm not sure Tony as I haven't seen the instrument in person yet. I'm seeing it today so I'll let you know but I do know that that is an identifier for the R13.
Thanks,
Bryn

That serial number is much later than 1970s
From my records I would place it as around 2002/2003
