There's lots you can do to improve the odds in future auditions though. Get a copy of Paul Harris's Improve Your Sight Reading (available at https://www.vcisinc.com.clarinetmusicalstudies.htm). Harris starts off near the beginning with practice in compound time. Get a book of first cl. parts to the Sousa marches; they're in a variety of time signatures. Work every day on practice books that emphasize counting and rhythmical exactitude. Some good ones are Paul Jeanjean 20 Progressive and Melodic Studies, Book 1 and 2, Pasquale Bona Complete Method of Rhythmical Articulation, and Hymie Voxman's Classical Studies (Bach in all his many time signatures).
