There really is no spit, but condensation. The only thing that lessens the effect is drier, warmer atmospheric conditions. Just swab more.


As for the recordings, my feeling is that each excerpt will have its own character anyway so even differences that you may not have intended will not be a bad thing. Just be consistent with your levels, mic and distance from said mic.
