I knew Arnold well. Most of his mouthpieces were on the more open side. So a guess would be around 1.12mm's. Also expect the rails to be pretty uneven and needing to be refaced.

An interesting story, we both were hired at Rico the same day in 1982, Oct. 1st. Instant friendship for the next 15 years. Our offices were next to each other. He was the first man to start molding mouthpieces just outside of NYC in the 1940's. During the depression, the late 1930's he was making a ton of money as a Big Band jazz player, making about $450 a week.

So his mouthpieces kind of reflect this sound and style. I've kept an eye out through the years and they have not gone up in price, so they won't be a collectors mouthpiece. Hope this helps Don.

Something very few people know about him is related to the atom bomb. The bombs needed to blow up before hitting the ground and his molding company made a switch to allow for the bomb to detonate before hitting the ground.

Lastly he was perhaps the best sight reader I've ever played with. Never missed a note.
