Hi together, hi Bob
I know Hanstoni Kaufmann very well and already took part in some of the courses he gives about making your own reed or correcting reeds you have bought.
What I want to say: he's a true artist and a lovely man and also a great teacher, and the way he makes his reeds is pretty easy, safe (no real danger to cut your fingers, not even for me haha) and it is really fast. I saw him make some reeds and it really takes just a few minutes for him and they come out great. Of course you have to practice... my reeds take much longer of course and aren't half as good. He reminded us however to divide some of the work you have to do on different days that the cane can "relax" and the reed gets more stable once it is finished.
So if anyone has the chance to get to know him or to buy one of his books, I think this would be great for any clarinetist who wants to learn something about reeds.
