 Mahler's Clarinet Quartet

So, I found this performance of Mahler's famous gut-wrenching Piano Quartet in A minor. The ensemble substitutes the viola part with a clarinet. Perhaps it's a fine venue hall, because the recording's laden with overtones and my score-reading today had me looking like Glenn Gould playing the piano.

Personally I feel the clarinet, with it's piercing timbre, really brought out the viola part that I would've otherwise not heard as well. The cello was deep and ringing, again probably the venue. Mahler was a true soundscape artist, the music here made me unsettled, yet aroused with awe. This was a great live recording and I'm glad someone uploaded it.
