 Practice habits and the instrument
Author: Caihlen

During the week I work a ten to twelve hour day, come home and practice for 1-2 hours. I assemble my instrument, practice, clean and disassemble, and put it away. On the weekends I would like to leave it assembled during the day so I can practice at various times, when the mood strikes me or whatever. I'm hesitant to do this because I was always taught that if you're not playing the instrument it needs to be in the case. Do any of you have any suggestions? I play a Backun Alpha, because I live in a low humidity location and heat with wood.

This has been discussed here many times over the years. It always comes back to the same basic points. Here's one thread:

BTW, kudos to you for your commitment to practicing at such length with such a demanding work schedule!
