I've got a reed case that appears to be functionally identical to the one you have linked, except for having a different type of wood.
As far as I can tell the "glass plate" is actually some sort of plastic, but it is still flat and functions identically in my experience.
The upper portion of the case has a velvet covered foam lining, which puts enough pressure on the reeds that they don't move around. (unless I was to hit the case hard against something else.)
It closes with magnets that are plenty strong to keep the case closed, it has never opened accidentally. If I don't pay attention while opening it however, I could lose grip and throw my reeds everywhere.
