I just recently upgraded from a student level selmer to a buffet E-13 limite. All the pads are great, no leakages. but I tried testing it using my student level mouthpiece and am having trouble getting low F and E to come out right. They keep making the same high note sound (I'm not hitting the octave key). I tried adjusting my emboucher, but that doesn't help much, especially when trying to play the note straight without working my way down to it. This issue also happened a few times to my 2nd octave C which came out to an even higher note than it was supposed to.
Is this a common issue when upgrading? Could there be an instrumental adjustment needed? do I just need to get my mouth and airflow used to the new clarinet? is it just my student level mouthpiece not letting the reed vibrate more distance for lower notes? I'm using a level 3 reed.
Any help with this would be great!
