Hi all,
Hopefully this isn't a topic that's already been touched upon 100 times (I did quite a bit of searching, hence my asking now), but I was curious to get some opinions on what fingerings people prefer to use when playing a chromatic scale up and down, specifically for any quick transition between the double B and double C natural. and vice versa. The "standard" fingerings (if you even want to call them that in this range) of your typical Ab 12- | 12- to A 1-- | 1-- play with relatively good intonation and response on my horn, but getting between them quickly is painfully awkward. Other combinations I've tried leave at least one of the two notes out of tune or unresponsive. Thoughts on this? FYI This question has no directly musical context, I'd like the notes to fit as evenly as possible within an ascending and descending scale as an exercise more than anything, so no other musical or ensemble considerations need be made.
