Someone recently asked me a question about her clarinet's serial number asking whether it was truly an R13. When she told me the serial number had a K prefix, I first assumed that there was some confusion with the old Evette & Schaeffer intermediate clarinets with a K prefix.
So she sent me photos. It really is an old Buffet pro horn manufactured in the era of R13's and it truly has a serial number with a K prefix. I'm familiar with F prefix R13's of course, but this is new territory for me. Does anyone know what this means?
I dated it at 1962, just as I would with an F prefix R13, namely by ignoring the prefix and going to one of the online serial number lists. The K is very clear and obviously was not an afterthought by someone.
Also, the number 13 is clearly embossed below the logo of the upper section.
