This became moot when my ligature arrived today crushed flat (why did they ship it in a padded envelope instead of a box?). Back they both go and I keep using the ligature that makes my reed slip and the instrument harder to play, I guess. One's reed shouldn't rock back and forth as they play. There is a Music & Arts sort of near me, but it isn't the safest walk from the bus stop as there aren't sidewalks in the area (or the loveliest since winter weather has finally arrived here with a vengeance and temps are hovering around zero).
I know all about not leaving reeds on the mouthpiece all the time. I'm trying to find something that keeps the reed in place and protects it while I switch between instruments in orchestra or in the pit.
