Where do I find this reed case?
Author: soloartist13

In this video by Backun the clarinetist has reed cases that store a large number of reeds. You can see the case at 2:30. I was wondering if anybody knows where to purchase these?

Thank you!

Maybe this is exactly what he uses. But there are a lot of similar models available on the market.

There are generics galore out there. A popular name-brand one, and one that I personally use, is the Selmer reed case. http://astore.amazon.com/musix4me-20/detail/B0002GFQSS

Hope that helps. You can also do a Google search with "clarinet reed case glass hold 10" Or use this one: https://goo.gl/b2Tlkd

I favor cases made by Roger Garrett. They are not only a great way to carefully store reeds, but they are beautiful pieces of fine woodworking as well. http://www.garrettmusicproducts.com/Reed%20Cases.html

It appears to me that the "latch mechanism" of the cases used by the man in the video are rare earth magnets (he just popped them open and closed).

I would search Japanese manufacturers if you want to find that one.

The reason these cases are special is because they appear to hold 20 reeds. Has anyone encountered these?

I don't care for magnet or spring closures. Sometimes I inadvertently hold the lid instead of the case to let it close, and the case flips the reeds as it slams shut, tossing them around. This type of case needs some sort of retainer to secure the reeds in their positions.

John, I think you are describing an artifice that would only happen with a spring closure. The rare earth magnet latch does "come on strong," but only the last inch of proximity. One quickly adapts to opening and closing these. Mine is a 10 reed holder (double sided - having three components: top, bottom and middle) from Muncy Winds.

I have not seen 20 reed holders outside the video.
