Hey everyone
I have an audition at my University for Wind Ensemble, in about two and a half weeks. There is an excerpt and scales/arpeggios, but I also have to choose a solo piece. It should be part of a solo work or an etude, 1-3 minutes long.
I know almost all the people I will be auditioning against, so here's what my clarinet playing is like in comparison:
-I have great tone and related things, like breath support (I have been told by professionals that my tone is professional)
-my ability to play runs would be mid-high within the group
-I am a third year student, but was majoring in jazz and classical Voice up until last semester, when I switched to jazz clarinet
-very expressive
-more conscientious tuning compared to the others, since I also play flute
-rhythm, in comparison to the others, is my biggest weakness
-I tend to slow things down (also a weakness)
If anyone has a suggestion of a piece I should play based of these strengths and weaknesses, that would be incredibly helpful. Thank you
