Time after time? Hmmm. Methinks you have a habit of exaggeration. So far as I know we've only really interacted on one thread, and that one recently.
The post quoted above was an attempt to lighten the mood, and show that I wasn't angry--which I'd been accused of by you, and which was not the case. Wisco99 has said he played with Buddy Rich, and even defended the maestro's well known habit of colorfully...ahem...encouraging his bands. He also seemed offended by my disagreement with him in what, frankly, I think was generally a rather civil disagreement (if occasionally passionate).
I wasn't looking to drive you away, Wisco, and I think if you like posting here, you ought to stay. But I still disagree with the substance of your posts in that thread, and feel strongly about the subject matter--including what I mentioned about the gigging scene. It strikes me as odd that anyone who gigged with the likes of Buddy Rich wouldn't get the joke I was making...but hey, "we all be thinking with our different brains" and I certainly didn't mean to offend. It was a strange dialogue though, from my perspective. You said you'd gigged professionally for 40 years, had walked away from a musical life where you made $1000/night, had played with Buddy Rich and other big acts, etc...then got offended when I implied that you were of an older generation than me...implied you might be just a little older (I'm 43 years old, by the way, so if you gigged for 40 and have been retired for any amount of time, you're considerably older than me)...definitely a strange interaction. My questions were meant to clear up whatever generation gap we might have been having in terms of our difficulty communicating.
Take it easy, man. I wish you the best.
[Update: Thanks for your email, Wisco99--I think it would be more honest, however, if you owned up to some of the things you wrote in it here. In the end, I treated you well--and I was right about many of the things you feigned indignation on. Best of luck.]
