I think Vandoren has taken the right step in some regards.. a more open facing with lighter reeds in the C series may work for orchestral players like myself who play and practice a lot!
it would not take alot of work for someone to take some pictures of these pieces and/or even measure them against a feeler gauge. These things are not so new..but alas when machined right can produce a very decent design. Rico has a new line of mouthpieces and I can say they are very good.
Now, back to Vandoren, I must admit the M13 lyre and m15 are certain very fine Chedeville style facings. Having not tried the C series does anyone know for certain whether or not they are symetrical? Once we establish this we can get down to the kind of animal they are. If not symetrical they certainly may still well be worth investigating..especailly by serious players who work alot over even amateurs who play alot who can sound as great as any so called pro.
Questions..
are the bore A style or H style on the C series.
does the tip look like a rolled tip or the usual flat tip...
does the mouthpiece at the exit show slight opening over the m series relative flat exit
