I am playing a 1950's vintage malern stencil (I think) which plays quite sharp. I need to pull the barrel 2-3 mm to bring it down to A-440. I play a Rico reserve x105 mouthpiece. I might like a longer barrel, but I'm not so suremost aftermarket barrels would fit.
My current barrel measures 63 mm overall length. A standard mouthpiece is pretty snug bit basically fits. The upper joint end receiver measures .910 inches diameter, .825 inches deep. Is this a standard size too? It seems to me that the barrels on my other clarinets are different.
Just checked: the other barrels have a larger diameter and are not as deep.
Am I stuck with the barrel I have unless I have one custom made?
This might be a reason to upgrade the whole clarinet.
