Mark, is this question/topic proper?
Young folk practice, play and do contests. Old geezers sit and dream and "remember when." I enjoy reading the many wondeful responses and advice which contributors of this BB provide. But I sure would like to know what country they are sending their comments from. Little British kids used to collect locomotive engine types and numbers. Now maybe they collect web URL's for countries. Is there a master list someplace?

Yeah, Mark lives in Michigan and stops by for coffee every morning with me, here in Dallas, TX on his way to work in Austin, TX.

NO! just kidding. And, I don't say Y'all - grew up in the land of..................., I mean, southern CA - San Diego - but that was many, many moons ago.

Bob A. - you really didn't say where you *are* (except maybe by reference to collecting British train ##'s - I still collect train models).

Hi, Bob 'n' ev'ryone -
Greetings from sunny Sacramento, CA !!!
...about two hours east of San Francisco, nine hours north of Los Angeles, roughly halfway between Mexico and Canada.
Sacramento is pretty near the central part of the state. But it is *not* the cultural center of anything.

A 4 hour drive from Hawkeye Country - The University of Iowa (My future home) in Iowa City. I'm the hugest Hawkeye fan too.. and they just (like an hour ago) lost to Kentucky in the 2nd round of the NCAA.. if anybody cares. (I do, i'm mad)

And a happy St. Patriicks day to ya from Hitchcock, Texas (15 miles west of Galveston) now known more as "Enchanted Swamp" from all the recent rains (no run off here, all flat). We all stood around in our rubber boots eating bar-b-que brisket and drinking our Irish Harp to the sounds of good Irish music.

Born and raised in the big town of Sarcoxie, Mo (pop. 1052 at the time) and a proper "HeeHaw " style "Salute" on that one! Got some "edicated" at Texas Christian University in Ft Worth (a wonderful place!) and wound up here. "Nuff said".

Grass Valley, California............Remember that Sacramento response? Well, go about 80 miles northeast of Sacramento and you're here. Sacramento may not be the center of the cultural universe, but it has some really nice cultural events going on all the time. Sure saves me trips inot San Francisco!

Hi,

Rossford, OH which is one mile NW of the intersection of I80 and I 75. Just about in the middle of a lot of stuff and only 2 1/2 hours from BW & WW and 4 hours from IMS.

I work in Nebraska (now one week per month in residence and the rest by email and phone). Also work in Chicago and Jacksonville, FL; visit twice each semester.

Hank,

For some reason I always pictured you in Nebraska most of the time. This is going to take some serious mental adjustment; my mental Rolodex will now have to change from "Husker Hank" to "Buckeye Hank."

Oh, and I'm in Corpus Christi, Texas, and am a PR guy with the local community college. Throughout the year I play in 4 different community groups and worry I'm turning my wife into a clarinet widow.

For Beejay,

efectively, Luis Rossi works here. He is Argentinian and he lives here since 1978 or 1979. He has played as 1st clarinet in both our Symphonic and Philarmonic Orchestras, our two main orchestras. Later he devote himself to the developpment of his clarinet and to his soloist career. I don't remember exactly when he begun the production of professional clarinets, around 1990. I bought my A clarinet new in 1996 and its serial number is 110.
His workshop is in an ancient neighborhood near downtown in Santiago and I've visited it two or three times for minor repairments of my instrument.
He is a very nice and kind people, I had many year ago a few lessons with him that helped me a lot, and I'm lucky to hear him from time to time when he gives concerts.

We have lightning bugs here. We drink pop. A small stream is a creek (pronounced "crick"), and the cover to your house is pronounced roof (rhymes with hoof).

Hi Sarah,

Sorry, but two days ago I resurrected the original post (something like 140+ responses then) and since them another 60 to 70 people have responded. The original message was from 2001. With the new setup on the BB, a response to a message of almost any age will move that post to the top of the pile.

Florida, but I say it like a true northerner, being originally from Philadelphia!

Floridians have "or-anges" . . . I call them "R-anges," and it drives the natives nuts! I keep telling them the 'o' is silent.

Long Beach California to Emmetsburg Iowa via USN, Los Angeles, Alaska, Washington D.C, Kansas City Kansas, London England, Madrid Spain, Ramstein Germany, Vancouver B.C. Canada, Blaine Washington, San Diego California then Iowa--all in the span of 78 years. I think I've been where I'm going.

Hello. I live in Cottage Grove, which is a suburban of Saint Paul, Minnesota. I am fortunate to live so close two metropolitan areas. I am only 15 minutes from downtown Saint Paul, home of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Minnesota Opera Company. Also, I am only 30 minutes from downtown Minneapolis, which is the home of the Minnesota Orchestra. Also both cities offer major theaters, the Ordway in Saint Paul and the Orpheum and State Theaters in Minneapolis. Both cities feature many major Broadway shows each year. The Twin Cities also has more community theaters than anywhere else in the United States outside of New York City.

248 entries? That's it? If this is going to be the longest thread ever on this board, someone has to resuscitate it. So, where are you from?

[ Please. Don't be stupid. This thread is for poeple to put down where they live if they wish, not one where people make comments just to add to the length. It dosn't need resuscitation; indeed, if peope do it without adding new information I'll just end it now. ]
