When you tried playing double lip, did you feel any pain or pressure on the tooth? If not, it might be worth switching to double lip. When you try it, a slightly softer reed might help.

I played single lip for many years, but made the switch a few years ago (minor problems with a front tooth). It takes some patience to make the change, but it's worked out well for me.
