 Just got my new Pomarico Crystal MPC
Author: Robert Gifford

I got my new Pomarico Crystal MPC in the mail, I absolutly love it. The one I have is the Sapphire Mellow model. I love the tone and everything.... its different to get used to because its a whole lot heavier than my old plastic mpc, but I definatly can hear the tonal difference. I would recommend a Pomarico to anyone that is looking for a mpc.

So flesh this one out,

Same reed type as before?

What were you playing, prior to the hunk o' glass?

What did you seek/find?

Has your teacher or any other player heard your before/after playing?

Same reed, I was playing two different MPCs my stock Buffet (horrible) and a Vandoren 5RVL, the First Clar. in my orchestra (not for school this is professonal) said it sounded really good and better than before, and he was considering getting one for himself.

Good for you Robert. Really a great mp. Ask any one who owns one.

Some of my best friends are Pomarico mouthpieces (in fairness, though, all have been refaced to some degree): I use Pomarico crystal and wood mouthpieces on soprano clarinet, and a crystal one on bass clarinet. Very fine mouthpieces indeed.

The power of suggestion caused me to order 3 for trial - a ruby bright, a ruby mellow, & a sapphire bright. I did not see choices for bright & mellow on the Pomarico web site, so maybe one has been discontinued.

Sounds like names out of Saturday morning cartoons (or Saturday night keg party favors).

:/ "Take two Ruby Mellows and call me in the morning."

I got the Pomarico "Mean" for bass clarinet, and have ordered a Pomarico "Nasty" for my soprano. They both get that snarling, guttural sound everyone is looking for.
<yes, I am kidding>

Robert, What kind of reed and ligature do you use on the Sapphire?
