I been seeing posts that refers to 'that auction site' and was wondering, what auction site is it?
Tried google but to no avail. Am just curious to know, could someone kindly let me know the URL of it?
Thanks.

We're required to spit on the floor and mutter a curse each time we say the name, so we try to avoid it.
It's a fine site for many things, but it's a "buyer beware" situation, and if you HAVE to buy an instrument site unseen, you definitely don't want to get it from a place where you have to be wary.

ive always wondered why we cant say the name of that auction site. I mean, who are we fooling? we all know what that auction site is when we say "that auction site" so why is saying the actual name prohibited? seems silly to me.

These are the rules. <shrug>
Just like not to use a light switch during Shabbat, or attend church on Sundays, or don't eat bacon sandwiches.
Rules may appear silly to one, and to others they make perfect sense. I don't perceive them as restricting my in my freedom very much. In fact, makes me smile each time.

I don't think there's any legal reason; I think some people are just so disgusted with the site that they don't want to give it the dignity (or publicity) of a name. For most of us it's just a laugh.

In case you have not noticed, this website has its own auction site and promotion of that "other" auction here would not be good business. Simple as that........

It's fine to mention eBay here as long as you don't link to it or discuss a particular item.

Thou shalt not mention the name or place of any active online auctions on e**y or other unmentionable sites lest the auctions be shilled on this BBoard by unscrupulous parties, unbeknownst to the masses. Yea, it has happened and often in past years. Some have been caught, but some have gotten the best of me; therefore unfortunately all have been tainted by the vice of some.

Actually, no, it doesn't. Just Classifieds, which serve a different purpose and bring no income.

And we are grateful you allow the classifieds, Mark!

Now, has anyone played one of these?
I've never played a metal instrument, so I'm curious. My wife plays a Haynes flute and it's a very fine instrument. so I'm wondering whether these clarinets are similar in quality as their flutes.

It's like how you can't say the name "Lord Voldemort" ------ drat, I said it!
By the way, the official euphemism (per my unilateral decree) is:
"That Infernal Internet Auction Site Whose Name Shall Not Be Mentioned", abbreviated TIIASWNSNBM. Just so you know. Sure beats having to write "eBay", doesn't it?
