Why the B46 doesn't seem to be more popular I can't say. Vandoren's own literature presents it as especially suitable for clarinet/saxophone doublers, but doesn't make clear what characteristics in a clarinet mouthpiece doublers might find desirable. I myself have never so much as held a saxophone in my hands, so I'd be the last to know. But I can say that I've used the B46 (among many things, Vandoren and otherwise) and found it pretty good. More specifically than that, I can also report that if you like Legere Signature reeds, the 3.5 works very well with the B46.
