I have an Albert system clarinet that I'm trying to make out the brand name, age and any other info on it. Thought someone here maybe could help.
The easy part is Made in Germany, Bb LP.
It looks like the letters GH centered in a large letter S. Above this there is a music lyre type of design. There is a ribbon design, the word on top we haven't made out yet (on the left). My wife is going to bring her jewelers loupe to see if we can see better than the magnifying glass we used so far. The bottom part of the ribbon looks like the word "MARKE".
The ribbon design on the right the upper word is not visible. The lower part of the ribbon looks like the letters "MARK"
Any ideas?
I can tell you this is one great sounding clarinet. A guy that played in my dad's band played this. He could play louder than I've ever heard on a clarinet. One time the clarinet player in my band, whose father was also a clarinet player, heard this guy play, his mouth dropped and he said, "my God can he play loud."
I"m thinking this horn may be worth some money for a dixieland player or collector given it's nice sound and capacity for volume when desired, regardless of what brand it is.
Thanx in advance.
