Good advice from GBK, that way you can try out several of each. As a matter of fact, Vandoren has a store in Manhattan, that way he can try as many of them as he wants. They stock all the Vandoren facings. Look it up and call for an appointment. By the way, Mitchell Lurie reeds get soft very quickly and a #2 /12 is already soft. He should try to move up to a 3 and perhaps try a better brand like a Rico Grand Concert. Rico also makes the M. Lurie but the Grand Concerts are a higher quality reed, at least in my opinion. By the way, I'm a Rico artist and use their Thick blank and Reserve reeds. They do not pay me to say that. ESP
