Can anyone suggest a mouthpiece similar to a 5RVLyre but with slightly more resistance?

Brad is one of the sponsors of htis board and makes excellent mouthpieces. Click on his link (in his post) to get to his site. He talks about refacing here: http://www.clarinetmouthpiece.com/about_refacing.asp

Another option would be to just try new 5RVLyers. Each is a little different so you might find one that has more resistance than the one you have now.
What about a harder reed? or a clipped reed?

In contrast to sky, I've found Vandoren mouthpieces to be very consistent. A symphony pro I know uses them because, if she should break one, she "can get a new one at any drug store."
I've actually never seen a Vandoren display at a drug store, but she's a Canadian; and they have a different health care system up there in iglooland.

While there are many Vandorens that are quite good, there is quite a bit of variation in the way they play. I know many people who have measured them and found variance in the dimensions. But-they are widely available and it is often possible to find some good ones.

I too have found that Vandorens (and mouthpieces in general) have a noticeable degree of variance within the same model. Some produce excellent results, some are marginal, and some are awful.
In a batch of 6 M13 Lyres I got on trial, I found two to be exceptional (as far as vandorens go) and bought them. The other 4 were simply not very good.
The ratio is probably similar to how many good reeds you find in a box of v12's.
