Re: Selmer Series 9 vs Selmer Series 10

Selmer Series 9 and 9* both have a larger bore than the Series 10, so they will have more tonal weight in comparison to the more 'compact' sound of the Series 10 (ie. the Series 10 will probably be more Buffet-like) - but mouthpiece and reed choice as well as different players will make the same instrument sound different.

The Series 9 has mostly straight toneholes and the slightly narrower bore Series 9* has far more undercut toneholes.

I think Selmers have the best designed ring keys as they're fairly flat across the top instead of being radiused or with a sharp inner edge, so they feel more comfortable under the fngers. I don't think Selmer's keys are any smaller than other makes, they're just differently shaped and mounted in the way that all makers have their own design.
