Stubben Clarinet?

I have recently come in to possesion by donation a Stubben? Stubban? or Stubbin? Clarinet. The reason for the question marks is the markings are hard to make out. I am trying to find the value of the instrument and some information on the history. What I can make out on the label is, W.H. Stubben (refer to above)

There is also a stamp that says made in France and a serial #(A23614)

If there is anyone that can help me please let me know.

Hi Leb-fan, I'm one also ! A Search [above] of our archives will yield more info than you prob. will want. His US Patent # is 2,508,550 viewable via Googlepatents and USPTO. I had [its now at NMM, Vermillion SD] a "Noblet Stubbins" and I've seen some , ?like yours?, with only S's info. Luck, Don

William H Stubbins was professor of clarinet at the University of Michigan in the 1940's to the early 1970's. His patent was for an improved mechanism for the register vent with an added tone hole just for the throat Bb. This was commercially named the "SK" mechanism. Stephen Fox can make instruments with a similar mechanism.
