Be very careful when comparing ligatures that you don't move the reed at all while changing the ligature.

I normally use the BG Revelation ligature with my Vandoren B45 mouthpiece and Vandoren 2.5 reeds. It gives a lovely rounded tone. I tried the BG gold-plated ligature. It gives a good sound and much louder than my leather ligature. Whether the gold plating is anything to do with this I don't know. I would buy the thing except that it looks awful with my silver-plated keys.
