Yes, Rovner will serve you well........however, just for the sake of argument, I have had the best luck with the Vandoren Leather. The Vandoren takes Rovner's original idea of the leather (or some such material) and incorporates the option for a metal plate styled like the Bonade (two rails running pretty much the length of the reed's stock). This ligature gives me, as you state, an even tone, a much larger sound and no edginess.
The latest one I added to my collection was the Vandoren Leather for Eb. Though I hoped for an improvement in sound I got far more than I had even hoped........a world of improvement!!!
