Some ligatures are better on some mouthpieces than others. I like the Vandoren leather ligature very well and in fact the metal insert better. But now I use the BG standard ligature the one with the rubber stripes insert and I found that on my Grabner Kaspar 14 mouthpiece it makes the sound darker and a bit more resistance but flexible when the Vandoren leather is eather too bright and lack resistance or dark and lacking flexibility and is too resistance. But the last thing I would change is the ligature it affects so little. Eather it's a good ligature or bad that is it bring out all the best from the mouthpiece or not.
