I just discovered this marvelous CD of "Debussy and Ravel for Clarinet Sextet" by The Clarinet Section. The CD is from Clarinet Classics and is some really cool transcriptions of classic Debussy and Ravel pieces. Ma Mere l'Oye is especially beautifully transcribed as the contra alto takes the place of the contrabassoon part in the original and does a great job. Would recommend this to any clarinet-aholic out there.
Was wondering if any of the transcriptions by Alan Andrews are available. It is definitely one I'd like to play. Some of the Eefer parts are quite cool.
Also very interesting to me was the modifications that were made to the alto and bass clarinets. The alto extends to a low C and in both the metal bells have ben replaced by wooden ones. There is a good shot of each in the inside cover of the descriptive material.
Anyway, I'd appreciate any further info.
