Who are we? - added category info

Lelia mentioned in another thread that this BB has members of all ages
and all playing levels. As a bit of a data junkie, this got me wondering
about the demographics of the clarinet community represented on this BB.

If you reply off-line (pangea1261@yahoo.com) with the following basic information, I'll tally it up and post the results back to the BB. Your replies should go to me directly so as not to clog up the BB (the thread has been closed so you can't reply directly to the list).

Please include the commas to separate the data fields - it will make it
easy to import into a spreadsheet.

age, yrs of playing, length of gap, yrs of playing since gap, prof. status, primary/secondary (new category)

Field Explanations:

age - your age

yrs of playing - give grand total of all years of active playing (include both pre and post gap years if you stopped playing for a time)

length of gap - provide length of playing gap ("0" for those who never stopped)

years of playing since gap - years of playing since you returned to playing the clarinet ("0" for those who never stopped playing)

STATUS - pick one of the following:

- Hobby (you play for your enjoyment only, but not with a group)

- Student (you are full-time student, pursuing or planning to pursue a music degree)

- Amateur (you play with a group of other clarinet hobbists in a
community band/ensemble and infrequently to never play for $)

- Part-time professional (you regularly play/teach as a professional musician, but have a non-clarinet "day" job)

- Full-time professional (you make your living as a full-time professional musician)

- Retired professional (you used to make your living as a professional musician)

Primary/secondary - is clarinet your primary, secondary or tertiary, quaternary... instrument

I realize that these "bins" may not fit everyone but pick the one that most closely matches your situation.

Thanks,

Anne
