 Philadelphia Orchestra

I watched this band playing at the London Proms on TV last night, and was interested in the set up of the principal clarinet. He had an instrument that seemed to have several different hues of brown, and no silver tenon rings (does that mean it may be a Rossi?). He also used a sling, which seems a little unusual for a standard clarinet.

It all sounded very nice. A little conservative for my taste, but very pleasant. He seemed to like to bounce up and down in his seat which I would not have thought was conducive to good control, but needless to say I could detect no problems in the sound (through my very basic TV speaker).

Can anyone tell me anything about him and the instruments etc.?

Thanks
