 comfortable old tone holes

After playing the same used-to-be-great clarinet for almost 40 years, I bought a new one. My old one had developed cracking and dimension problems and had gotten badly out of tune. I am very pleased with the sound and intonation of the new one.

But....I had not realized just how personalized my old clarinet was by the way the tone holes had worn to fit my hands. After two months, I am still missing notes from time to time and even had to adjust my left hand position slightly.

I am not asking for solutions here, just expressing my surprise about it.

Has anyone else experienced this?
