 1950 pre-R13

I bought a buffet clarinet from my teacher a few years ago. I asked him and the technician who did the job on it what model it was, they both said it was an R13. But once i looked up the serial number just recently, it tells me that it was a Professional clarinet made in 1950. (Very good condition despite the age. Since my teacher is nowhere near 56 years old, I guess he and the previous owner did a good job that way) Since the R-13's came out at around 1955.... i was wondering what the differences between these late R-13s and the R-13s themselves?
