The Clarinet BBoard

Greetings, all.
The other day I heard a surprising statement--well, it surprised me at least.
Some people think that a person who plays both Bb soprano clarinet and bass clarinet is not really a doubler. I don't agree.
By strange coincidence, the brand new "Doublers" bulletin board mysteriously appeared just a week or two after I heard the statement. This doubly pleased me. (Sorry) 1) The new board is a perfect place to discuss the challenges of playing both the little and the big clarinet. 2) It is the perfect place to raise the issue of what constitutes doubling.
So I started a thread on the subject. http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=17&i=6&t=6
(Title: A brass player defines doubling.)
There has been some healthy debate in the thread, but I am disappointed not to have heard more from experienced doublers who make frequent posts to this board.
Now I know that it takes time for something new to catch on. Many of you have not yet had the need or inclination to use the new board. However, the very beginning is the best time to define the perimeters of the subject matter.
I mean, hey--wouldn't it be embarrassing to show up for doublers class for the entire first week, only to be told, "Sorry. You must drop this course. You haven't completed saxophone 101.
What is a doubler?
Thanks in advance.
