ok... I really kinda hate to post a topic on such a small problem, but does anyone know an alternate finger for C# to A# in the upper register... I kinda need to know, for the "Put On A Happy Face" song... Ironically, the only song that really makes me happy... thanks

Probably a good time to purchase a fingering text (Ridenour, Sim, etc..)
There are MANY ways to play C#6 and A#5.
Did you, at least, look at one of the woodwind fingering charts on-line?
For example:

I have a fingering chart... Didn't realize there was one on this site (of course my common sense is at an all time low, forgive me), but the one I have doesn't really have any alternates...

The lowest two right side keys (although probably not a good choice in this particular passage) ...GBK

You could also do one-and-one for the A# -- clarion B with the F hole (right-hand index) covered.

Mary, what instrumentation do your musical books contain for Bye Bye Birdie? Such as, I believe the original cast recording was: 1st Alto Sax/1st Clarinet...2nd Alto Sax/2nd Clarinet/Baritone Sax (opt.)...Bb Tenor Sax/3rd Clarinet/Bass Clarinet (opt.)...
My director hasn't received the books yet for our production and I am not sure if I'll get a part because of all the doubling.
Also, anyone else who is familiar, are there different versions of the way the books are?
Also, are there significantly more sax parts than clarinet? Or vice versa? What's it like?

oh... we have lets see, as far as the winds go:
1 flute
1 alto sax
1 tenor sax
2 clarinets (first and third... there is no second)
2 trumpets (I think it's the same... no second)
1 trombone
I might be missing something, but I think that's it for the winds.
*keep in mind that we only have around about 100ish kids in our band, if you count the percussion and the freshmen band.

Also, there's a baritone/bass clarinet/clarinet book. It may be possible that a reduced instrumentation is available for this one, however.
