I may not add it to all of my posts but
Practice always as if an instructor were watching.

That's a good one that I adhere to - but moreso, when I encounter an obstacle, I think "What would my teacher say right now?"

Just for the record, I find the little automatic tag lines at the ends of posts quite annoying. It's really hard to avoid reading unrelated quotes by the Pope, about buttershots, Leblanc insecurities, etc. I wish the webmaster would ban them - or at least make them non-automatic, so that the poster will have to think and type before adding.
Not a big deal, but since it's the subject of this discussion...

I have to agree with you, LarryB. On your comment that these quotes are annoying. I would add preachy. I come here to get some kind of info on clarinets. Not to get a bumper sticker added to what I just read or get someones philosophy on life in general. I say if it has to do with clarinets just say it in your post. Then again I absolutly detest cencorship of any kind. If I don't like it, I can hit the road. It really is not a big deal. I can still enjoy myself and learn off of this.

I think that those quotes are meant for our amusement, but even the best of jokes loses its "punch" after many hearings. Ad nauseum, they can really become annoying and meaningless. So I agree--no more slogans, sayings, etc, unless pertinent to the posting (and then, only one time is usually enough).
Good clarinetting!!!!!!

The quotes are only automatic if the poster wants it that way. If the poster wants it that way, that's fine with me, whether or not they're repetitious, boring, etc.
Ignore them if you don't like them, but don't whine, please.

That's true, Amateur Artist, that football fields are made for band practice. Unfortunately my high school wants to keep the football stadium's grass in good shape so we practice on a muddy practice field. But at least it belongs to the band! I personally prefer "Tune it or die", if that could be inspiring. It inspires fear in the younger players in my section, because they see that keychain hanging from my case and know that I, their section leader, is the one with the real power! Because clarinet players are true royalty!
