Hi,
Often the older rubber mouthpieces with the antiquated vulcanization manufacturing techniques will turn a greenish color or perhaps brownish color. These color changes are associated with the sulphur used as vulcanization accelerator in those days which has reacted with environmental compounds to form colored sulphur compounds. Normal cleaning will not remove these colored compounds.
I have an experimental formulation to use on old mouthpieces that have changed to that OD green color or sometimes brownish color which will turn them back to black. I have tried it on some of my older - e.g. Selmer C* mouthpieces and it works very well and does not alter the playing characteristics.
Before I offer it for use as a commercial product I would like to try it on other mouthpiece types. I would appreciate members on the BB sending them to me for treatment. I will treat them for free and pay postage to have them shipped back to you (if you want them back). The caveat of course is that this treatment is experimental and there are no guarantees about results. This offer is good for 30 days or until my mailbox runneth over so please email me first to see if I have already been inundated with requests.
So, if you have any ugly old mouthpieces lying around that you wish were the original black color again (some players could care less of course) I will hopefully be able to accomplish your wish.
My shipping address can be found on the "Contact" button on my web site -www.doctorsprod.com
Thanks in advance.
