Just want find out in general what would you buy if given a choice. And what advantages one offers over the other?

According to what I have read The Festival and Prestige are nearly identical in construction. The Prestige is preferred for classical while the Festival can be used for jazz and classical.
The RC stands for Robert Carree and has a special inside bell shape for better sound emission. How the RC differs in sound from the Festival and Prestige is a mystery to me. Could it be described as being more brighter in sound?

Here is TMG's site where you should be able to find information to help compare the three models:

By the one that tunes best with your current mouthpiece.

Those little badges beneath the Buffet logo are pricey...

I used to play on Festivals and found them to be extremely free blowing and bright, but perhaps that was just my pair. It got to the point where I didn't feel I could develop my tone much further because I couldn't handle the piercing edge and the unevenness in resistance, which I didn't get when playing collegues instruments (mainly R13-s and RC Prestiges). Like I said though, it is possible that my pair were particularly bad in these areas.

I recently chose RC Prestiges from the Buffet Factory in France, mainly for their tonal evenness (resistance etc) and the added ease of making a covered yet focussed sound. There are probably Festivals that play with the same characteristics I like about my RC Prestiges - I just didn't bother to even try them as I didn't want to go back to Fesitval after the last ones. Hope this is of some help

I recently tried the R13, Festival and Prestige along with the Signature
and the Opus II.Ended up buying a Vintage. I felt it was more free blowing and projected much better; bigger sound. Incidentally, I did a blind test. I didn't know what horn I was trying. I tried several of each model.

Good luck. Incidentally, I "liked"all the clainets with the exception of the Signature which had (for me) a muffled sound.

I myself have tried the Elite, RC Prestige and Festival models. But I think Elite has too bright a sound. I think it is worth considering between the RC Prestiges and the Festivals.

But I think my 1930/32 R16s still has the best sound.

Neither - look for an R-13 from the mid to late 1960's or early 1970's...GBK
