Could be one of many reasons -- the band could simply have tuned differently than A440. May also be that the recording deck, mastering deck, or some other piece of gear was running at the wrong speed. Something could have gone wrong during sample rate conversion to master the CD. Listen to enough albums and you'll find pitch is entirely relative.

If you do play-along stuff enough, you might want to look into CD players that are pitch-variable to compensate.
