 software...

Some advice, please:
For a concert next week I need to assemble a CD additional to the live performance of the ensemble. It will contain nothing but the -rather heavily treated- sample of an interview with someone who survived WW II, 6'20'' long. I want to loop this and manipulate this sample (which is on CD already) - so, which software do I need? I ´ve got quite aplenty of probably useful stuff, provided by a freind, but I am not a wiz with this electronic stuff, so, please, how do I get the sample down on my comp and with what software do I treat it, to edit on Cd finally then?
Markus

One of the best little shareware programs for the manipulation of audio data is Goldwave. I use v4.26 and you should be able to find it on the internet someplace. I have used it for years in the conversion of vinyl to CD.
It is a .wav file processor and hence you must convert .cda files before operating on them, a function also performed by the program.

You may buy a Roxio Easy CD Creator. It's not free fare. You computer needs installed with a CD Rewritable Drive, of course.

I use Cakewalk Pro Audio to do this type of thing. I don't know if it's the best way, because I haven't tried any other way.

1) CD to wav

2) Insert wav into Cakewalk

3) Manipulate wav in Cakewalk (looping, whatever)

4) Now modified wav back to CD

I have a computer with CD drive, and use Roxio Easy CD Creator for burning CDs.

If product CD is to be played on a CD player, rather than a computer, you want to end up with .cda files. This can be done on CD R blanks.

hello,

personally i use nero for this sort of thing. you can convert your cd to wav and use the wav editor to alter your track. i have used nero for 5 years now and have never had a problem using it for this sort of thing. the help files are really easy to use as well and take you through converted audio step by step.

panda.
