I feel the overwhelming need to share with you all The Polyphonic Spree. They are a 25 piece + band from Dallas, TX. They have a choir and their instruments include (but are not limited to for this is a experimental ever evolving group) car tail pipes, drums, keyboard, cello, violin, trumpet, french horn, trombone, guitar, thermin (sp? one instrument on my list to learn more about), flute...etc
I'm telling Tim DeLaughter (leader, form. of Tripping Daisy) he needs to get some woodwind action in there...hmm maybe one day I can be their clarinet... ah daydreams.. sorry got off track for a second...
Anyways this band is something else to see or hear their music is a wonderful inspiring and uplifting blend of many styles. They remind me of a beatles meets tripping daisy meets aliens....
They've been featured on SXSW two years in a row, just debuted on tv on the Jimmy Kimmell Live show, and are on their first US tour
Check out www.thepolyphonicspree.com .......... Their website is something else too..

Actually, they need a bass clarinet, not that I'm biased or anything.
And the instrument you were wondering about your spelling of is a theramin. You can find out a lot more by doing a Web search, but, as I understand, it is basically an electronic instrument, frequently used in old science fiction movies to make the wierd "WoooOOOOooo" sounds. (It's hard to convey sounds in a written medium.)

Perhaps they should try beating a couple of oboes over a rock.

Don Poulsen is absolutely correct, a bass clarinet is what's needed.

Thought I would throw in some additional websites in the polyphonic world ....
[ Deleted. This started out off-topic, but I let it slide. Now it seems to have become an advertisement for the band. ]
