I've been looking into buying a new reed case. I've come across the new vandoren reed case (holds 8 reeds) and the Pro Tec. But the catalogs or online places don't seem to have the details I am looking for about those two brands. Can you please offer your input if any of you own these or have seen them.
About the Vandoren reed case-- Does the compartment that hold the reeds stay permanently inside the case or can you take it out (like the Bonazza cases). Can the plastic part that holds the reeds in place hold reeds of varying heel thickness? I owned a Reed Mate case and after putting V-12's in there, it didn't hold down my regular Vandorens--the plastic part seemed to give.
What about the Pro Tec reed cases...does the reed compartment come out or stay permanently in? And what is the material that holds the reeds down, plastic, elastic...? Do reeds with varying heel thickness stay put?
Finally, what is the difference between the 2 besides the brand and how many reeds they hold and that Vandoren has grooved lines for air circulation?
Thank you!
