do Bb clarinet reeds work on soprano sax?
Author: Amanda L.

I'm getting ready to play in a sax quartet my friends and I put together (our 1st rehearsal is on Jan. 26th)and I'm going to play soprano sax. I'm actual a clarinet player (and a tenor sax player) and I never played the soprano before and I dont know what type of reeds to buy. So my question is, can I use my clarinet reeds or do i need to buy actual "soprano sax reeds"? Thanks before hand for your help! I really need it!:-)

soprano sax reeds are a must, clarinet reeds work if your a clarinet player and just getting into a soprano sax. the reeds work, if you don't have enough time to get any they will work to a degree. if you ever get a soprano sax reed you'll notice they are smaller and broader. hope this helps.

You can use them. My woodwind director is a soprano sax player and shes awesome. She uses clarinet reeds because they're darker in tone and not as bright as soprano reeds so that its a more focused tone
