 audition preparation

There is about a week untill i get the audition music. I know my scales fairly well. So any stuff i should practice?

You should practise playing long notes, to improve your tone. What instrument are you talking about?

You might also want to practice some sightreading. Just find some pieces and read through them (learn to detect alternate fingerings etc before playing it). Auditions usually consist of various scales, a prepared piece, and something to be read on the spot.

Well, i got the name off of you so thanks.

I am talking about a Bb clarinet. Its a school chair audition and we have no sightreading unforunutly.

I have regional auditions in a week... about 200 people for 15 spots. It's going to be intense, im so nervous. Does anyone have audition rituals or tips, ect?

In that case, as Gnomon said, your sound is going to be the most important factor. If your auditioning for a first chair your director is looking for good sound in all registers of the instrument as well as good intonation. Make sure you don't get flatter as you get higher/louder. Good luck.

Well, me not really nervous about auditions, i usually play a solo for the choir or something on my sax in front of hundreds of people, and no biggy for me nemore, and for 2 people, heh, piece of cake
