ok, so im working on the altissimo register on my sax and im having a lot of trouble. everyone says that G is one of the toughest and i've got that, but i can't go any further. i've tried tonnes of different fingerings... anyone have any tips for getting these notes?

Hi,
Altho i'm not a sax player (switched to clarinet) the principle for playing altissimo is the same. You must support the air fully and use a firm embouchure. Also make sure the reed your using is hard enough (you probably won't get the control in the upper register u want with anything less than a 3). Lastly, as you progress higher and higher fingerings will become less important and it will rely more on breath support and embouchure. Keep trying i'm sure you'll get it

When i first started doing the altissimo range, i used a size 4 reed and then did it in chromatics

Sigurd Rascher "Top Tones" may be a good booklet to learn playing altissimo. The first excercises are just overblowing low-Bb, low-B, low-C to the octave (1.overtone), the duodecime (octave+quint, 2.overtone) and so on... That is the same as playing a brass wind.
Rascher stresses that these excercises are extremly importand to develop the right embouchure. After you can play overtones by fingering the low register notes it will be "quite easy" to play altissimo with altissimo fingerings.
But it's may be a hard way and there is nothing but daily practise.
