i have been playing flute for 6 yrs and have a testy flute and i want to upgrade to an open hole flute does any one have any suggestions?

Look at well know brands that you know can be repaired by almost any repair shop. And just start playing as many different ones as you can. You have to find the one that's right for you. Personally, I like Gemeinhardts.

other brands to try if you don't know of any. Powell, Jupiter, Peral, Muratazu, Yamaha, Lyric, Miyazawa, Trevor James, Williams, DiMedici, Burkart and Phelan, Brannen Borthers, Altus, Sankyo, Sonare (accented e). All these brands are produce intermidiate and professonal flutests for flute playes around teh world and ever professonal will swear by one of these brands. I hope this helps you look for something worth while.

you may buy a step-up flute, with sterling silver head joint, open hole, off-set G, and b foot joint.
Depending on your budget, it would be even better to buy a professional flute of sterling head, body and foot joint. That will save the money for buying a step-up flute.

6 years is a good time to get a new flute. If you are serious about playing buy a good flute- you don't want to be buying an upgrade every other year. Solid silver is always a good bet, b-foot, basically try out as many as you can. Dont rush buying either- make sure your positive you like the one you are getting.
